Rafael Nadal ends season with confidence-boosting win over Casper Ruud
Ending the year on a high note, tennis star Rafael Nadal has secured his first ATP Finals victory in Turin.
He defeated Casper Ruud by 7-5, 7-5 in the season's last match, which lasted for one hour and forty-three minutes.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion conceded only six games to Ruud in the Roland Garros final this June.
Nadal lost the opening round-robin encounters against Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Spanish tennis star looked determined to end the season with a win.
Nadal dominated the match against the young Norwegian and dropped 11 points in his games.
He fended off two break points in the closing stages of the first set, keeping Ruud under constant pressure.
The Norwegian gave a strong fightback against Nadal but was not able to overcome the fury of the Spaniard.
Ruud would enter the semi-final as he finished on top of the group despite losing to Nadal.
